In this video we’re going to check out the 128gb Batocera PC Bootable Light Gun Image from Retro Lizard. This image is being presented as a true plug and play image for use with your Sinden light guns. It also states it works as a plug and play image for Gun4IR, but we will be covering Gun4IR in another video coming soon.
This image is SINGLE PLAYER ONLY so keep that in mind, it will only work with 1 Sinden Gun. This is true
As of 7/27/23, if anything changes, I will provide an update ASAP.
The image contains over 128 popular light gun games such as House of the Dead, Operation Wolf, Terminator 2, Area 51, Virtua Cop, Lethal Enforcers, Time Crisis and many more!

04.08.2023Its probably a USB power output issue on that small mini pc.

04.08.2023Whenever I try to modify the settings, I get the error message "rtfm-id10t". jk, I never play things long enough to try to modify the settings.

04.08.2023Did you try it with the pedals that sinden also sells?

04.08.2023Hopefully I can get some funds ready here soon to get a couple Sindens! Great Video!

04.08.2023Man, I LOVE light gun games, but have been holding off on getting the sinden guns because I’ve heard they’re not that easy. I’m really not good at this stuff, so I have been hoping for just a plug and play. Was excited when I saw this video, but I’m also using a beelink mini pc, so I may still hold off a bit

04.08.2023Thanks for the video Ralf. As it goes I have a Sinden light gun and was planning on making a cab for it so this video was a big help! The thought is to make a flat pack cab and pop a pc in there gun games to live next to my temperamental Crisis Zone cab. So, thanks again for the help!

04.08.2023You need to bring Kim in to review the gun games. Have to make sure none of the hostages get away…

02.08.2023Is this Sinden lightgun better than the Ultimarc Aim Track Arcade lightgun? Would this Batocera image work with the Ultimarc Aim Track Arcade lightgun as well?
Cole Grantham
02.08.2023Got mine working 👍🏼 this is awesome but I definitely want to upgrade to gun4ir

02.08.2023jurrasic park on mame is still broken since it originally used a positional gun, the true original sensitivity doesnt translate well to guns unfortunately

02.08.2023Does carnevil work

02.08.2023Hand-raise here for “excited for Sinden -> got my Sinden -> played Time Crisis for 90 minutes after infinity-minutes (!) of setup -> Sinden idle for a month+ now” camp. Thanks for this!

02.08.2023Theres a new Gun4uir revision? Was going to look for the parts online and build my own but wait now until I see what has changed.

01.08.2023I would so hire you to do basic desk side support just to hear you say… "oh shit" when the clip comes off.
I rewound that part like 10 times and laughed harder and harder each time.

01.08.2023I love your videos, but when someone says plug-and-play, I want to unbox this plug it in and it automatically work. I don’t want to burn an image or do anything with configuring…. I should be true plug and play…. The retro lizard is some thing I’ve been looking at for a while he makes full build plug n play light gun arcade cabs and ssds . I’ve been waiting for a plug and play solution , but a true plug and play because I’m kind of impatient with the whole process of getting all the games to work correctly

01.08.2023Jurassic park is recommended to use libretro fbneo core rather than mame… way more accurate

01.08.2023Giving this video a chance. The sinden light gun is a gigantic pain in the ass.

01.08.2023For the price and all the goodies included in retroshooters pc kit. It’s a no brainer. Just to bad retroshooter don’t advertise the hub/pc kit and how to set it on pc. It is not very complicated. Maybe soon. Sindens are very expensive and don’t seem to be working constantly 100%. Getting it to work properly with 2 players is hell. Gun4IR are just ridiculously expensive for light guns.

01.08.2023Great video, it is a bit confusing, and I'd like to know if I can take the light gun build and append or add it to my current 1800 game Batocera build, rather than wiping the drive/disk clean and reimaging with the light gun stuff.
Also, would love to get your thoughts on the Launchbox, 1000 game plug and play HDD that i've been seeing on other YT channels. Here's a link on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C8T441JG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

01.08.2023Didnt even know there was a plug & play for gun shooters?! Thata awesome and thanka for the Sinden link.

01.08.2023Thanks for sharing. Coincidentally when i got my sindens, the only emulator i happened to set up is the M2emulator for emulating AM2 titles like the virtua cops, hotd1, LA Machinguns, and one other i forget. By the time i finished, i didnt feel like messing with MAME so i just didnt bother. So this type of image would be helpful for me, though it looks like some light calibration is still required for some titles.
For your disconnecting issues, i recall there being issues with USB hubs both powered and unpowered and especially with the recoil models due to the solenoid needing power. Its recommended to go directly into a usb on the desktop. So maybe the mini pc's usb ports just dont have enough juice to power the sindens?

01.08.2023Light Gun Lunatics loves these vids. Your challenge is to beat Rays time in Time Crisis. 🎉 On his Gun4ir build.

31.07.2023Doing promotion for someone who sells drives based on the work of people who actually put the time to make batocera freely? Come on dude, he added roms to batocera.

31.07.2023I have a channel the specialized towards Sinden setup (PC) this playlist will walk you through sinden setup up to running a stable 2 gun build with mame (also going into launchbox if you want to continue that far). The issue most people have and especially with 2 gun setups is using the Beta Firmware. It was suppose to be a stable release in May. Coming to the end of July it is still not listed as stable. Using 1.08 Firmware is best (Stable) way to go. It's really not hard to setup. Love your work RetroRalph !

31.07.2023The problem you were experiencing after toggling recoil seems like a USB power issue.
I’ll be trying out the image this weekend on a couple of Minisforum systems. I’ve got Sinden and Gun4IR guns, so I’ll be trying both. This will be great if it works.
Dragon Gamer
31.07.2023All these Systems should be plug n play – Again people need to hold these systems under the same standards of all purchasable Hardware. Like Arcade1up imagine if it wasn't plug n play. LOL Also playing Space Gun on that would be just dumb. The guns don't have the grenade launcher you physically can move on the bottom of the gun.
My Review - Aaron Fischer
31.07.2023Does that image have the newer gun games like from Raw Thrills?

31.07.2023Yes that is kinda cool I love botacera !

31.07.2023Great video Ralph. When I got my Sinden's a couple years ago, I configured my own Ubuntu Linux/RetroPieX86 setup that works well, but it was a TON of work. I need to try this Batocera image to see what it does that I'm missing in mine (probably a lot). A couple things I figured I'd chime in on:
– you can actually burn the image to a portable USB thumb drive and then tell the PC bios to boot from USB. Much easier than opening the PC up, and very little noticeable performance difference in my experience
– Jurassic Park doesn't work well on my setup either. I think it has something to do with the emulator (MAME), and not the Sinden or the rest of the build
– Any idea what version of MAME the lightgun games are using?
– I need to find a 4:3 Batocera theme so this will work in my arcade cabinet monitor

30.07.2023Funny story… And great timing…. I stumbled upon the existence of this batocera build just last week when I was researching what dual boot setups i could experiment with on a Atari VCS (I just purchased last week on clearance… for experimenting around on playing around with what i can get it to do)..
Just brushed off the dust of my sindens 2 days ago .. to get prepared to mess around..
And then you do this video..
What great timing!!
JJ from OZ 😉..
Ps..what I'm interested in most is if I can get both my sinden guns to work with this setup.
If he Atari VCS fails me…🤣. Then I'll try it on my Intel NUC i7 🤞

30.07.2023It would be nice if there were more and cheaper gun4ir guns. No need for anything else.
The biggest problems with these guns is 4:3 and 16:9 resolutions that make it annoying to correctly set up without it being annoying.
Adrian Lamb
30.07.2023Man, I like the retroshooter but its a bit underpowered. Has anyone used this Batocera image with the usb Retroshooter guns?
Doug Clendening
30.07.2023Jurassic park is just like that all of the time for all of of the guns. Probably because it was a joystick gun.

30.07.2023Cool! I was in the video! 😁 I will check out this build!

29.07.2023Big fan of light gun games. It’s the main reason I have a crt. Having something like this makes it more approachable for those that don’t want a crt in their house, which I think is great. Keep up the great work Ralph!
Andy Gregory
29.07.2023Interesting stuff Ralph. I would just say that in defence of the mini pc, they run on a low power level compared to pcs so activating the recoil probably finished it off power wise! Also a lot of the issues with sindens and emulators are with getting the second gun working. I wonder how the image handles 2 sindens simultaneously?
Rob
29.07.2023thank you Ralph I'd never heard of sinden but now I know I'm going to get myself this setup for my cab. 👍 as you say there's plenty of "tweeks" in batocera for light guns, sensitivity, speed, different cross hairs etc, etc, but at least this image takes most of the hard work out it. thanks again. ✌️
