The SEGA Saturn was home to several great light gun games, but the three I talk about here were truly something special. Over the next three weeks I’ll be reviewing each of these games, but first I wanted to touch base on the light gun, the SEGA Stunner, itself, and highlight why I enjoyed these light gun games years ago. I hope you enjoy!

17.11.2023Shame you can't use these guns on modern TV's, I don't have or want a CRT.

09.12.2022Arcades? What about SNK. I agree Sega was better towards the latter half of the 90's, but SNK has the edge during the golden era of arcades in the late eighties to mid nighties period.

09.12.2022Finally got the light gun just after Christmas, it's the orange one but not bad! I remember like 8 years ago I did play the original House Of The Dead in the arcade and it was awesome! Recently a barcade opened up and I got to try Virtua Cop 2 and it was fun! I have House Of The Dead for the Saturn though it's the Pal version but it runs fine though it's actually a rare jewel case version actually! House Of The Dead is fun but unlike Virtua Cop which has a target system to help you out House Of The Dead requires you to aim very good and I admit it's proving to be a challenge but even with the target system using a controller it's hard so either way challenging game but very fun! I admit the graphics are a downgrade but the slowdown is not bad, House Of The Dead is obviously unfinished but it surprisingly still looks OK though I don't understand why the PC port of House Of The Dead is in the same unfinished state! It's to bad the first House Of The Dead never went to the Dreamcast like House Of The Dead 2 did and I understand House Of The Dead 3 was suppose to be on the Dreamcast but was cancelled! I wish Sega would release a compilation disc maybe on the PS4 that has House Of The Dead 1, 2, 3 and 4 plus overkill, that would be awesome and a top seller! Anyway the light gun games are definitely excellent on the Saturn and a must to pick up and I am planning to get Virtua Cop 2 and 3 soon!

09.12.2022I always had some fun with Virtua Cop 1 and 2. Your story about a friend breaking your light gun reminds me of a similarly unfortunate story related to my Saturn. Long story short, I had to store my Saturn for a brief period during the summer of 2000. I had a lot of the major games, and figured instead of paying a storage company I would let my good friend have some fun with the system and my games while I travelled. Well, when I came back, many of my games were still there but he had lost the cases but not the disks for Panzer Dragoon Zwei and Dragon Force, but most devastatingly he just outright couldn't find Shining Force III. I've never been able to replace it….

09.12.2022What did the Namco G-Com 45 look like in the States? It came in grey in Australia and was highly detailed.

09.12.2022The version of the Stunner released in PAL was blue with the logo in white. I think a pink one was also available.

09.12.2022I think it's about time we saw an arcade perfect port of the original HOD on something like the wii u e-shop. A bundle pack of Virtua cop 1+2 with updated graphics would also be an interesting thought….

09.12.2022I cant wait to see all those games in action.
Btw do you think this is a good deal?
I bought a Final Fantasy VII 10th Anniversary Limited Edition PSP (long name tho…) for 15$ + a free 4gb card, but no charger.
The PSP has the display 30% broken. It could be used, it doesnt look "that" bad. (i totally beat my friend's ass at GTA LCS multiplayer, even if i had that broken display). I will make a little ASCII image of the PSP. (<> represents the broken/pitch black spots)

09.12.2022Loving the Saturnday series and can't wait to see more random game reviews!! There are several titles that need more attention! Like Three Dirty Dwarves for example! Think you'll do some Japanese exclusive reviews as well?

09.12.2022Great video, as always, Jarrod. One question about the Stunner is if you have to worry about the sights being off and not aligned. I fear buying one of these and when you fire, it's shooting at another part of the screen.

09.12.2022don't sleep on Area 51, that is some good stunner fun also!

09.12.2022Can you use a light gun from any region on any Saturn? It definitely seems that way from the video but I need confirmation. I want to track down an all black japanese one for my north American Saturn if that's the case.

09.12.2022Here in Europe the Gun was blue and it called Virtua Gun instead of Sega Stunner

09.12.2022I chose that same black japanese gun. Also because of the Saturn logo in it. I didn't want the blue european one since…..well…the Saturn is black…I'm really happy for the purchase. 🙂

09.12.2022The all black version of the gun looks better than the one you have with the colored button and trigger.
