My first experience with sandbox vr was dreadful because i had already been playing on the quest 2 headset, it kinda sucked because there were a whole bunch of tracking issues, visual issues and comfort issues, it was unbearable
I don't know if i've been to the same place, but it was 2 years ago or maybe 3 that a group of friends and i went to try that. We also had a zombie game (did not look the same), the rooms looked like that and the equipment looked like that. I have to believe it was the same company.
When i tell you the lag was so bad they changed our battery packs, restarted the system, and then said there was nothing more they could do, it did really ruin the experience.
By the end of it, we were taking turns dying because the game didn't register our movements in real time and i was almost robotically moving the "gun" in my hands to a point, counting to 2, then firing, then after another second would move again. We collectively decided we'd give the software and hardware another half decade at least before trying again
Other peiple were doing something like a haunted house thing and we could hear them screaming for real, but most of what we were saying to each other was colored from frustration rather than excitement or fear.
LOVE the dog shit graphics makes it SO REAL lmfao Fuck is this you oaid for this? Shit looks like a wii game ugh itspretty PATHETIC we are only "this far" with "hyper realistic" like fuck mean if yall think thats "realalistic" i now understand why this world is as fucked as it is…….
Meta quest pro is moving in the right direction size wise. But the future I believe must be a headset weighing not much more than a pair of glasses. I don't think anyone would have a problem carrying a device in there pocket of maybe in a lightweight backpack plugged into the screen. They could even make it a couple of kg and user barely notice it. Sell a headset once, two 4k screens and all the best sensors available, then sell the brains separately people could upgrade every few years at a much lower cost than buying a standalone headset with new screens and sensors every couple of years.
